Playfest Enters liquidation

PARKER ANDREWS APPOINTED LIQUIDATOR OF PLAYFEST MUSIC FESTIVAL

On 12 February 2013 Parker Andrews, was appointed Liquidator of the Play Fest UK Ltd t/a Playfest.

The 2011 inaugural festival, staged at New Eccles Hall in Quidenham, Norfolk, attracted over 2,000 revellers and showcased 46 different acts over a weekend festival. As a result, the festival was shortlisted for the prestigious ”Best New Festival” at the UK Festival Awards for 2011

The 2012 festival, which took place over the Jubilee weekend of 1-3 June 2012, presented a larger line up of 62 acts over the weekend including indie bands Ash and Feeder headlining, with support from The Pigeon Detectives, Reverend & The Makers, Delilah, Scroobius Pip and Natty. The festival also hosted talent from the dance genre such as Sub Focus, Zinc and Shy FX.

However, due to poor weather affecting ticket sales, the festival sold just 70% of what was required to break even. The low attendance also had an adverse impact on the food, drink and merchandise takings, causing the festival to make an overall loss of £200,000. The festival went ahead as planned, although pressure from suppliers have since forced the directors to take action to wind up the Company’s affairs, resulting in the liquidation appointment for Parker Andrews.

Parker Andrews, said:

“Our firm has experience in dealing with high-profile appointments, often with a large number of creditors, such as the Bloc music festival last year when 15,000 ticket holders were left out of pocket after the event was cancelled part-way through the first evening, and also in 2011, when we dealt with Harrison Holidays which had over 1,000 holidaymakers relying on us trading the Company whilst under Administration to ensure their Christmas and New Year holidays went ahead as planned. Our firm is currently advising another East Anglian music festival and we have just been instructed to wind up a mobile phone reseller with a large number of customers requiring the return of their phone handsets. We have created a niche for dealing with high-profile instructions that require very fast and decisive action and a high level of organisation and commitment from our staff. No other firm of our size is demonstrating any appetite to deal with these difficult cases.”

The “Playfest” brand is available for sale and we are looking for best and final offers by 28 February 2013. For more details please contact Kate Harris on 0800 612 7593 or email kh@parkerandrews.co.uk.
