Online Sporting Goods Retailer ProSportUK.com Enters Administration

By Antony Antorkas

The online sporting goods retailer, ProSportUK.com, has succumbed to fierce competition and ceased to trade on 25 January 2013 after over 10 years in business with the loss of 6 jobs.

ProSportUK.com, which traded from Hurricane Way, Norwich, selling professional sporting goods through the Company’s website to clubs, teams and the public.

The directors have appointed business recovery firm Parker Andrews as Administrators on 13 February 2013 to seek a buyer for the Company’s assets, including its stock, website and database of 118,000 customers that generated an average annual turnover for the Company of £850,000.

Parker Andrews, commented “Fierce online competition and price-reductions have seriously affected the Company’s profits over the past 18 months. The directors had been discussing outside investment and a potential sale of the Company, but neither have materialised and therefore the directors felt they had no choice but to cease trading as pressure from suppliers increased. All orders from customers have been fulfilled and no customers have lost money as a result of the closure.
